The annual Lux Style Awards nominates an alleged harasser
ISLAMABAD: The annual Lux Style Awards (LSA) is coming up with the nominations revealed last month. Unfortunately, the awards nominated an alleged harasser, who has an ongoing case in the courts regarding the allegation. In a pleasant turn of events, a number of models and brands withdrew their nominations in the respective categories to show solidarity with the victims of sexual harassment and as a protest against the inclusion of the alleged harasser.
It is great to see that the fashion and media industry is now standing up for such causes and taking a stand against harassment and sexual misconduct in the industry. When personalities such as these choose to make morally-right choices and are willing to forego accolades that would mark their personal achievements, it sends an important message to not just the people within the industry, but also to the general public as well as corporations, and is a significant step in the fight for women’s empowerment.
