Parents should ensure their children are aware of traffic rules and follow them
KARACHI: As a regular commuter in Karachi, I often come across the unfortunate sight of underage children riding motorbikes. They indulge in reckless driving, exceeding the speed limit, and performing stunts even when the traffic is congested. This is highly dangerous as they risk their own lives and those of others on the road. It is sad to know that parents allow their children to ride bikes, despite knowing full well they are below the legal age limit and do not possess driving licence. I would urge all parents to keep a track of their children’s activities and forbid them from riding a bike until they have attained the legal age of eighteen to drive bikes. They should ensure their children are aware of traffic rules and follow them, wear helmets, and possess a licence before they are given access to a bike. This will not only save the lives of their children, but also those of fellow commuters who get caught up in the road rage of irresponsible drivers.
