Often passengers and drivers are beaten up on roads and nobody cares enough to stop the perpetrators
BAGH, AZAD JAMMU & KASHMIR: I am writing this on behalf of residents of Bagh district of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and hope this gets the attention of Prime Minister Imran Khan and all the authorities concerned.
This is to bring to the notice of the PM that more than 50,000 people travel from our home district of Bagh to Rawalpindi and Islamabad, on a regular basis. These include men and women of all ages and backgrounds, such as students, job seekers, businessmen and the ill and injured seeking medical treatment in the twin cities.
Unfortunately, travellers face problems pertaining to law and order in the twin cities.
Despite lodging numerous complaints with the police, college students or those who pose as students intercept public transport and harass passengers. The police reportedly act as mere spectators. Such incidents have increased and over a dozen have occurred in the past few months alone. Such incidents mostly occur near Sultana Foundation and Tramri Chowk in Islamabad.
Often passengers and drivers are beaten up on roads and nobody cares enough to stop the perpetrators or defend the victims. Buses are often looted by robbers and bandits during the month of Ramazan and Eid holidays, when people working abroad and within the country visit their hometowns and ancestral villages to celebrate festivals.
I hope the authorities will look into the matter and help provide safety and security to travellers.
