We are facing the consequences of climate change
KARACHI: It is now an undeniable fact that we are facing a bad kind of climate change and conditions are deteriorating by the day. This year we have had an extended winter and then suddenly a hot summer has set in from the first week of April. This, coupled with prolonged power outages, has made life miserable for people living in urban areas of the country, especially in cities of Sindh. With unsatisfactory electricity supply, residents of several areas of Karachi have begun to have a foretaste of things to come in May and June. We have been facing prolonged power cuts for more than thirty years and things do not seem to have improved much. On the one hand, we are facing the consequences of climate change and on the other we have a government that works on paper only.
