Suicidal rats

Letter June 20, 2011
The situation in Pakistan where the ruling class (healthy rats) is doing all it can to eliminate the poor (weak rats).

ISLAMABAD: During World War II, it was observed that thousands of rats in Britain committed mass suicide by jumping in the sea. The researchers observed that this madness stemmed from the hunger prevalent during the war period which resulted in beastly behaviour by the healthy rats — they began eating the weaker rats in order to survive, forcing the weaker rats to run to save their lives and eventually plunge into the sea.

There is a lesson for us in this bizarre story. Are we not witness to the same situation in Pakistan where the ruling class (healthy rats) is doing all it can to eliminate the poor (weak rats), thus forcing many to commit suicide?
