Blood donation should be seen as a moral responsibility of every individual aged 18 to 55
TURBAT: Shortage of blood for safe transfusion has been approximately estimated at 40% for a year, in Pakistan, with the blood donation rate being less than one per cent.
Blood donations are required to save lives in various cases of accidents and terror attacks, and of patients who are suffering from cancer, thalassemia and heart diseases.
Due to the lack of blood donors, many patients pass away while potential donors seem careless and afraid of donating blood for the sake of saving a life.
Blood donation should be seen as a moral responsibility of every individual aged 18 to 55, as every four months someone can donate blood which will protect three lives in a year. When people donate blood, it results in multiple benefits on the health such as reducing the risk of cancer and receiving a free health check-up.
The blood donation campaigns are highly appreciated for spreading awareness and working to protect people who are undergoing treatment for different diseases and urgently need blood during any emergency that may arise.
There is a dire need for a blood bank in Turbat to save lives and it is requested that the government and private hospitals look into this matter.
