Appreciate the good

Letter February 27, 2019
Breaking protocol for Saudi prince is not problematic, in fact, it was an expression of a strong Pak-Saudi ties

HYDERABAD: It has been observed that we as a nation are rather pessimistic regarding public gestures of diplomacy and friendship. Recently, the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabi visited Pakistan. The visit led to various agreements, including Saudi Arabia’s investment of approximately $20 billion in the Pakistani economy. It is heartening to see foreign investors placing their trust in the new government and investing heavily in the economy, as it is an indication of growth.

Unfortunately, many people are skeptical about this visit and have been reviewing it in a negative light. The incident of the prime minister driving the Crown Prince has resulted in derogatory remarks being made against him. In my opinion, breaking protocol for the Crown Prince is not problematic, in fact it was an expression of the strong relations between the two countries.

Moreover, Imran Khan has been endlessly mocked for seeking help from the Islamic world in order to stabilise the economy, whereas we forget the numerous precedents previous governments have set in entertaining foreign investors.

It is my request to the masses of this country to appreciate and support the efforts of our prime minister in steering the country out of the current economic crisis.
