As yet another innocent loses her life in crossfire between the police and robbers in Karachi
KARACHI: Another innocent life is lost to a misfire or — as it is stated — in crossfire between the police and robbers in Karachi. Recently, the Supreme Court took notice of the Amal case, a 10-year-old girl who was shot dead caught in crossfire during an encounter between the police and robbers. The Supreme Court initiative led to the passing of the Amal Bill by the Sindh Assembly. The bill bounds hospitals to treat the injured on an emergency basis while leaving the formalities for later. However, there is a dire need for legislation for encounters that result in loss of life of a passer-by. Police personnel must be put through interrogation for such actions.
