PSL’s failed opening

Letter February 16, 2019
Ceremony was not only badly managed but also lacked excitement

KARACHI: The Pakistan Super League began its fourth edition on February 14. The expectations of cricket lovers were high as they cheered for their favourite teams playing in PSL.

However, while winning and losing is part of the game, what left everyone disappointed was not the performance of the players but the opening ceremony.

The ceremony was not only badly managed but also lacked the excitement as the music system also failed to uplift the audience in the stadium. As singers lip-synched their own songs, the dancers were out of sync.

Such a depressing opening ceremony only made viewers cringe and if the Pakistan Cricket Board wants to impress not just Pakistani cricket lovers but international ones too, it needs to pull its sleeves up and organise a much better ceremony.
