Legal system reforms

Letter February 13, 2019
A suspect was imprisoned due to the magistrate being unable to conduct the witness parade properly

LAHORE: The Supreme Court’s acquittal of a prisoner after 10 years of his imprisonment highlights the flaws in the legal system of the country. A suspect was imprisoned due to the magistrate being unable to conduct the witness parade properly. Hence the suspect was falsely accused of a murder and sentenced to 10-year imprisonment.

With instances like these, the legal system, instead of providing justice to the victim, has rather ruined lives. The new Chief Justice of Pakistan should take notice of this as well and initiate meaningful reforms to the system.
