Number of out of school children is still a big figure
SHIKARPUR: The Imran-led government had initially promised to its voters that it would ultimately work for educational reforms. But quite literally not much has been done.
The number of out of school children is still a big figure. A big chunk of approximately 23 million children are out of school around the country. Let’s see, how else is the PTI government is going to work for the enrolment of the out of school children!
Pakistan is, no doubt, faced with many problems, internal and external. However, educational reforms and policies are always neglected.
The country is currently relying on monetary assistance from neighbouring states to improve its socio-economic conditions. It is, however, a good idea as well. But considering the educational quagmire and doing the needful it is need of the hour.
Without revamping the education sector and implementing effective educational policies, the country’s economic and educational progress is impossible.
It is also another reality that infrastructure of overall government schools of the country is not up to the mark. Even, there are thousands schools locked for long or have either been encroached upon by influential people of the area. How could there be increased enrolment, when schools are in a meagre number and poor condition? Building new schools and recruiting more teachers are necessary steps too.
It is, therefore, a state of education emergency. It is about time that the PTI government fulfilled its due promise and ensured that its election targets were achieved.
