There are no quick fixes here; education, employment and increased prosperity are the only answers.
KARACHI: Khalid Munir’s analysis as presented in his article of June 15 titled “N Waziristan operation — a wrong approach” is very pragmatic. North Waziristan is a Taliban stronghold and to expect the formation of a lashkar from within the local people, who are already hostage to the Taliban, does not seem practical.
The writer has correctly pointed out that the Taliban are a well-trained combat force and to counter them militarily, an equally well-trained force is needed. There are no quick fixes here; education, employment and increased prosperity are the only answers.
