Students are now expected to pay money for various reasons
TURBAT: Charging monetary fine from students has become an everyday business for teachers in some of the educational institutions here. Students are now expected to pay money for various reasons from not doing an assignment to remaining absent from the class. This is the least appropriate way to correct students, where the charge will only reinforce the behaviour of doing wrong and then getting away with it for some money.
In fact, this will put the less privileged students through humiliation and disrespect at the hands of their teachers and batchmates. The purpose behind any correctional act should be to make sure that the behaviour is not repeated. In this regard, educational institutions here need to do better. Taking money from students will never serve the intended purpose.
The management of schools should keep a check on such teachers and encourage students to report such behaviour.
