Many Chinese products are of very shoddy quality.
LAHORE: While we are quick to praise investment in Pakistan by Chinese companies why doesn’t our media ever say anything about the dumping of cheap Chinese goods in our markets? A student of even basic economics would know that this can have far-reaching economic consequences, not least of which is that it can drive local industry out of business, and this, in turn, can cause unemployment. Of course, cheap Chinese goods are a good thing for consumers, but there is also the issue of quality. Many Chinese products are of very shoddy quality. Surely, we shouldn’t be blindly praising whatever China does, ignoring the costs to our own economy and industry?
