PIA once again supports idea of females being viewed as objects
GUJRAT: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has instructed its air hostesses to shed 10kg in order to continue their jobs. It is the same PIA which had many pilots without professional degrees but unfortunately, educated and skilled women in a country like Pakistan have no place unless they are thin, tall, fair and fit into the society’s set standards of appearance.
Not only in PIA but in all other institutions, females are subjected to unjust scrutiny and objectification. This attitude of society has resulted in the internalisation of objectification of females. In short, this step by PIA has once again supported the idea of females being viewed as objects and not hired at competent positions for their qualification and capabilities.
