Traffic jams and loss of life

Letter January 08, 2019
Federal and provincial governments need to look into growing traffic problem of Karachi

KARACHI: Karachi is one of the biggest and the most populated cities of Pakistan. But unfortunately its citizens are facing a lot of problems, especially those who use public transport to commute from one place to another. Most Karachiites travel by buses, coaches and auto-rickshaws.

However, most of these drivers drive recklessly and put lives of passengers at risk. Unfortunately, the rush of heavy traffic often results in loss of human life. Besides this, a huge amount of fuel is burnt due to traffic jam as cars running on fuel are stuck in jams for hours. On the other hand, owing to traffic jams, patients being transported to hospitals are at a risk of losing their lives, if they do not reach on time.

The federal and provincial governments need to look into the growing traffic problem of Karachi on a priority basis and come up with workable solutions.
