If the person who processes certain documents was on leave, someone else should have been assigned his task.
KARACHI: Recently, I went to the National Bank of Pakistan in DHA Phase I to pay the challan for a driving fine. I was told that I would have to go to a different branch to pay it. When I asked the manager of the branch why this was the case, he politely said that the person who processes the challan was on leave until June 15. I was angered by this because not only had this inconvenienced me and many others as well, the excuse being given didn’t make any sense. After all, if the person who usually processes such documents was on leave, someone else should have been assigned his task, for the benefit of the bank’s customers. And this is a government-owned bank — so much for using taxpayers’ money efficiently.
