We can see how easily English language has replaced Urdu as a medium of instruction in educational institutions
TURBAT: Urdu is being neglected by its native speakers. The reason is the disinterest of the nation towards their national language, who take pride in being able to fluently speak English or other European languages. Consequently, we can see how easily English language has replaced Urdu as a medium of instruction in schools and other educational institutions. One can easily find language institutes offering a variety of courses to hone one’s English language but none such institutes exist for Urdu.
Further, fluency in English has become a prerequisite for a good job. From parents to teachers in schools and recruiters in professional setting, all prioritise English language over Urdu, despite the fact that language is, in no way, an accurate measure of one’s abilities. The government should make efforts to make Urdu language a prominent part of our culture — one that is not only a medium for the entertainment industry but also at schools and in other work fields.
