From Abbottabad almost 50 tonnes of waste are dumped at Salhad union council
ABBOTTABAD: From Abbottabad almost 50 tonnes of waste are dumped at Salhad union council. This creates a bad impression on tourists. The PTI government has allocated Rs3 million for beautification of Abbottabad city. The solid waste dumped at landfills if recycled and processed through solid waste management can produce electricity and biogas. It is estimated that an average 7-8 tonnes of Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) is generated daily of which two to three tonnes are collected by the local administration and dumped at the Salhad dumping site. The government should consider recycling of solid waste as this would bridge the gap between demand and supply of electricity on the suburbs of the region.
