Weakening the roots of the social and moral fabric of society
LAHORE: The termite of corruption has weakened the roots of our social and moral fabric to the extent that now a majority of people justify wrongdoings as necessary to climb up the ladder of success. The involvement of successive governments and corrupt government officials has worsened the situation. It has now mushroomed to almost every institution of the country. The corrupt politicians have been satisfying their vested interest for years. In the dark clouds hovering over the country, the nation saw a silver lining with the coming of the PTI government which is unbending on scratching the corruption off the institutions’ roots. It is a ripe time to chalk out a prompt and practicable plan to curb this menace. The comprehensive approach to curb corruption must include ending impunity, adopting the rule of law, educating the masses and ensuring democratic governing system as suggested by Transparency International.
