Pakistan’s education system is in a debilitating state
TURBAT: Education is the most valuable asset for a developing country. But Pakistan’s education system is in a debilitating state and with a significant number of out-of-school students. The only reason for this is the lack of planning and proper distribution of resources among provinces.
Moreover, the increase in poverty in the country makes it increasingly difficult for families to afford an education. Parents rather want their children to help them earn a living from an early age than to enroll them in schools.
While successive governments have allotted generous education budgets, whether these budgets are being utilised efficiently is still a big question. Considering the cases of corruption in the country, we cannot rule out the fact that some of the budget might be going to the homes of the influentials.
Politicians and policymakers are often found providing lip service to the cause of education in the country but little is being done to ensure the constitutional right of citizens.
