Nawaz Sharif's bodyguard who attacked cameraman should be dealt with legally
LAHORE: Considering the role and the responsibilities that the institution of media carries in a state are no less than what the state institutions hold. As much as the members of the institutions of state are deemed to be respected, those associated with the print and digital media deserve equal honour and respect. It’s them who bring us the good and bad of those who rule us.
This Monday, a private news channel’s cameraman was attacked by a personal bodyguard of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif outside the parliament building.
The security personnel should be dealt with legally for misusing his authority and power against someone who was only fulfilling his duty at work. Such incidents not only hinder our standing as a nation but also as one believing in the importance of an independent and liberated media.
