No dates for LAT

Letter December 11, 2018
HEC seems to have failed in conducting LAT on the date the organisation itself had announced

TURBAT: The Supreme Court of Pakistan had announced that none of the law colleges or universities were allowed to enroll new students in their respective departments of law without them having cleared the Law Admission Test (LAT), which would be conducted by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan. This is a good step towards ensuring meritocracy and we totally agree that the study of law should have a proper system for student’s selection.

But the HEC seems to have failed in conducting LAT on the date the organisation itself had announced. The HEC had announced that the test would be conducted in the last week of September, but it has not been held till date. This is concerning as because of this the new batch of students wishing to pursue law studies are unable to enrol themselves in their chosen colleges or universities and are at the risk of wasting an academic year.

The students request the HEC to conduct the test as soon as possible and ensure that it is done in a systematic way. The future of many students as well as of the country that is faced with rampant lawlessness is in the hands of the HEC.
