Modi and his government subscribe to it as elections grow near
LAHORE: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his government are trying to exploit the Katarpur corridor initiative to their advantage while simultaneously reprimanding the Congress over letting Pakistan have the opportunity to initiate its opening. Obviously with the election nearing, the agenda of the Indian government is to go with whatever is anti-Pakistan. From the BJP’s mixed reaction over the Kartarpur corridor opening to Sushma Swaraj dismissing any possibility of dialogue between India and Pakistan, things will likely change in the post-election scenario. Yet by then it might be a little too late for the Indian government to backtrack on its statements and make the most of the opportunity to resume dialogue.
