Trump’s letter to PM Khan

Letter December 05, 2018
This is the time of a great trial for Imran Khan as a leader of the nation and his well-wishers in parliament

LAHORE: I strongly believe that Pakistan-Afghanistan relations should be diplomatically harmonised, especially in the wake of the Trump letter to PM Imran Khan seeking help on the Afghan issue. Instead of masking it with hypocrisy, there is need for a vivid and clear response to get things sorted out.

Pakistan has already clarified its stance at the UN General Assembly recently, according to which helping, protecting and facilitating Afghan refugees was a hard ball to play. The defiance that the US military gets in the battle zone is reflected in their opinion about all sincere endeavours that Pakistan has been able to put up. Not only fighting against terrorism and being an ally to establish peace in the region but also to taking refugees and helping them settle.

The Pakistani leadership is supposed to come out strong as they have to save their ties with the Afghan government. Not only this, the Pakistani leadership has been asked in a direct manner by the US government to help them end the war in Afghanistan by playing a moderator’s role. This is the time of a great trial for Imran Khan as a leader of the nation and his well-wishers in parliament.
