Child abuse, in its various forms, can be found everywhere in Pakistan
LAHORE: Child abuse is a crime which is committed by individuals made out of coarse material. While it is important to understand what goes inside the minds of those who resort to committing such a heinous crime, it is equally important to understand that abusing a child is as serious crime as killing a person because a child is soft by nature and any abuse that he or she goes through in early stages of life leaves a lasting imprint on its mind forever.
Child abuse, in its various forms, can be found everywhere in Pakistan — in the homes of the rich and poor, and in the streets and schools. Completely eradicating child abuse in the country requires a complex strategy that will require multi-stakeholder support. From policymakers to local watchmen and parents, everyone should be involved in this process.
Parents must educate children about sexual advances or threats and protect them from abuse through the concept of unacceptable ‘bad touch.’
