Rising acid attacks

Letter November 30, 2018
The Government of Pakistan must take stringent steps to eliminate violence against women

TURBOT: Acid attacks in Pakistan are increasing rapidly and most of the victims are women. It is lamentable that people’s faces are being disfigured and destroyed by monsters throwing acid on people. This also ruins their lives. According to the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan, as many as 5,660 crimes were reported against women in all four provinces of the country with Punjab recording the highest number of acid attacks in 2013 with 56 per cent of the attacks.

The Government of Pakistan must take stringent steps to eliminate violence against women, especially acid attacks and save our girls and women before we become a nation of men only.
