VIP coaches are meant for only the bureaucratic machinery of the Pakistan Railways
KARACHI: Having done due research, it has come to my knowledge that there are 48 VIP saloon/coaches allocated to accommodate officers of the Pakistan Railways in their official travel. This is a great waste of valuable resources which could be made available for the welfare of the people. At a time when the common people are suffering due to poor services offered by the railways due to lack of coaches, the inability of state institutions to inquire into this negligence is a matter of pity towards our people.
These VIP coaches are meant for only the bureaucratic machinery of the Pakistan Railways. Usually a single officer travels in a coach that can serve several of other passengers at a time. Not only is this unjust for the people but also causes a loss for the department as these saloons are being misused by officers who get TA/DA for official travels as well.
This raises the question: will Imran Khan-led government include the Pakistan Railway in its ‘No Corruption’ campaign? Or will I, a responsible citizen, go on travelling like a sheep does in trucks?
