Extrajudicial killing by Rangers (III)

Letter June 09, 2011
We can no longer have these ‘saviours’ managing law and order in Karachi.

UNIVERSITY OF KARACHI: What is one to make of the gory and disturbing footage showing an unarmed man being shot dead by a Rangers trooper? There is ample evidence to suggest that the man was unarmed and begging for his life. As for the Rangers, who can now expect people to rely on them? Every time I see the footage, my blood boils and the extent of the hatred that I feel for the Rangers cannot be expressed in words. The callousness that could be seen on the face of the Rangers official who fired the shot sent shivers down my spine. We can no longer have these ‘saviours’ managing law and order in Karachi. They should be removed from the city and this should commence by them being asked to vacate the stately Jinnah Courts.
