Extrajudicial killing by Rangers (II)

Letter June 09, 2011
The way Sarfaraz Shah was treated seems to suggest that the Rangers believed this man to be an animal.

ISLAMABAD: This is with reference to the horrific shooting to death of an unarmed man by Rangers personnel outside a park in Karachi, footage of which has been aired on several television channels. The clip reinforces the widely-held view that law enforcement agencies do not care for the law and, in fact, believe that they are a law unto themselves. The way Sarfaraz Shah was treated seems to suggest that the Rangers believed this man to be an animal. The men who are involved in the killing must be punished in such a manner that others who look at civilians with such contempt are taught a lesson.
