KARACHI: Pakistan’s mega city of Karachi — where the local trains have been closed for more than 10 years, leaving its citizens, especially the working class, suffering gravely — is now enjoying its intra-city train service, better known as local train, once again.
The new government recently launched the local train service that charges as low as Rs40 for the commute. This is an admirable move and the credit goes to Prime Minister Imran Khan and his government, and Minster for Railways Sheikh Rasheed.
This marks the start of developments Karachi is going to see in the future and we hope that the government — both federal and provincial — will fulfil their promises. The 20 million Pakistanis living in Karachi are anxiously waiting for their city to develop and prosper.
We also hope that the metro bus corridor, which has been under construction in Karachi for quite a while now, is completed as early as possible so that the people of the biggest city of the country could get rid of their transport troubles.
