Tormented by KESC

Letter June 08, 2011
When will this madness end?

KARACHI: At the time of writing this, there has been no light for 12 hours and there is no sign that it will return any time soon. The worst part is that when I called the KESC complaint number, I was told that some ‘miscreants’ had damaged wires of some 25 odd poles and that several hundred houses had been affected. And that a team was sent to work on the fault, but they were attacked by some people and prevented from working. I was also told that work would resume only after a security cover was provided. When will this madness end? With summer already here, the people of Karachi need to have a power supply company that is willing and able to do its job efficiently. I don’t see that happening.
