KARACHI: The anti-encroachment drive undertaken by the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation in Saddar area is causing inconvenience to the commuters and residents of the nearby areas. The campaign has been going on for the past three days. Due to the drive, adjoining areas and those as central as Sharea Faisal have been witnessing traffic jams during the peak rush hours for the past three days.
It is commendable that now encroachments are being removed on the instruction of the court. It would be in the fitness of things the government provides alternative spaces to the displaced hawkers and small businesses so that they continue to earn an honest living.
