Plight of commuters

Letter November 10, 2018
We lose many man-hours due to the absence of proper healthcare facilities

KARACHI: A highly inadequate number of buses now ply in Karachi. The plight of those who commute by buses is indeed pathetic. Fares have risen but the frequency of buses has been gradually decreasing. People wait for hours for buses and when they arrive they are mostly packed.

Then people are left to hire rickshaw the fare of which too has been rising thereby going beyond reach of the common people. How then should the working class manage their transport problem? They are only left to wonder where to look for solution of their problem. The government has left the people to fend for themselves.

We lose many man-hours due to the absence of proper healthcare facilities. We lose many man-hours due to the absence a mass transit system and also due to many other reasons. And our economy goes on to decline. The government remains unmoved.
