Self-delusion

Letter November 09, 2018
People take up a guitar and yell at the top of their voices and think they have become great singers

QUETTA: One is bemused to see the race for instant popularity in our country. People want to get wealth and popularity overnight without putting in much effort. People take up a guitar and yell at the top of their voices and think they have become great singers. Appearing in badly produced movies and insipid TV plays leads people to think they have become celebrity actors and they are also deluded into believing they enjoy a large fan following. This reminds me of a Hollywood movie, Julius Caesar, where there is a caricature scene of Alexander the Great. A character announces “Here comes Alexander the Great to untie the Gordion Knot.”
