The Panchayat system still exists in rural areas
LAHORE: According to a news report in this newspaper, a Panchayat has ordered the father of two girls to marry his daughters off to illiterate men in the community. Both the daughters are MBBS and are being forced into these marriages. Very unfortunate indeed. Educated young ladies being compelled to marry illiterate men.
The Panchayat system still exists in rural areas and it is preferred to the judicial system of the country. The Ministry of Human Rights should take action against the Panchayat decision before more lives are ruined.
