Issues have been raised following Wasim Akram’s appointment
KARACHI: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has formed a seven-member advisory cricket committee which includes Wasim Akram. Issues have been raised following Wasim Akram’s appointment in the backdrop of Justice Qayyum’s Report on match-fixing released in 2000. The PCB chairman said Justice Qayum Report is incomplete. Why did PCB take so many years to announce the report as incomplete? For the 2003 World Cup Waqar Younis was made captain and not Wasim Akram because of this report, following which Pakistan’s performance in the World Cup was terrible. On many other occasions Wasim Akram was ignored. Who will take responsibility for all these years and the damage to the national cricket?
As the justice Qayyum’s report claims to bring evidence against the named cricketer’s forward, it is important that evidences are sought and those responsible should be removed from the committee.
