Corruption does not matter in elections

Letter October 17, 2018
New government is blaming the previous government of the PML-N for the ills facing the country

LAHORE: Like in the past the new government is blaming the previous government of the PML-N for the ills facing the country. It has also started investigations into many of the PML-N’s projects and programmes. What the common people want is peaceful life with their basic needs fulfilled.

For this loot of taxpayers’ money will have to be stopped. The extent of thievery can be gauged from the fact that billions are being detected deposited in the accounts of very poor people. The robber barons are afraid of FIA raids on their homes, so they have deposited billions in dormant accounts of poor people. Many of these poor people opened bank accounts only once in their lives. More than rupees two billion were found in the bank account of a poor man who earns his living by selling falooda. Three billion rupees were found deposited in the bank account of a rickshaw driver. Seventy-seven crore rupees were found deposited in a student’s bank account. The student says he is only a student and does not earn any money. He says he comes of a poor family. Rupees 400 crores were found deposited in yet another poor man’s account.

If one goes by the results of the by-elections, one finds corruption rather makes its easy to win elections.
