Law-enforcement agencies are doing their utmost to control the situation
TURBAT: Terrorism is an alarming issue across the world. Pakistan has unfortunately experienced terror attacks for a very long time.
It is heart-wrenching to learn that around 35 incidents of violence of various types had occurred in Pakistan in the month of September alone. These incidents killed up to 67 people and injured 32 others.
The Pakistan Institute of Peace Studies in its monthly security review of the country found that 17 terrorist attacks took place in Pakistan in September, 10 in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) and seven in Balochistan, while no act of terrorism was reported from Punjab, Sindh, AJK, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
While there is no doubt that the situation in the country has improved significantly from what it was a decade ago, the fear that engulfs provinces such as K-P and Balochistan is still very much present. People fear that they might become the next victim, as the recently reported incidents included seven civilian deaths.
Some people are even considering moving to relatively safer places and are actively working towards this goal. This would only be troublesome, as urban centres that are considered ‘safe’ are already experiencing the population threat. Besides, the development that has been achieved in Balochistan or K-P would go to waste, if locals decide to move out.
The law-enforcement agencies are doing their utmost to control the situation. The government needs to interact more with civilians to bring them out of this fear.
