Over 148,000 Pakistanis are diagnosed with cancer annually
KARACHI: Cancer is a dangerous disease. If left untreated, it can become fatal.
Over 148,000 Pakistanis are diagnosed with cancer annually. Some forty per cent people die because they are not diagnosed in time and are unaware of having cancer.
The most common form of cancer is breast cancer that affects many women and causes 14 per cent cancer-related deaths in the world.
In Pakistan, many women are not even aware of diseases like cancer because of the lack of literacy. Every woman must be made aware about such diseases and they should consider going for monthly checkups so that in case they have cancer, it gets diagnosed at an early stage.
Regular health checkups have become increasingly important in this day and age. The government should set up camps at regular intervals to provide free-of-cost services and are accessible to the common people.
