A sense of calm prevails all across the cities and people are much more at ease
KARACHI: This is in response to Chris Cork’s article titled ‘A better Pakistan’ published in this newspaper on October 6. Mr Cork has shed light on an important aspect of the country at a time when so many self-proclaimed analysts and experts have only highlighted the negatives in the country.
As mentioned by Mr Cork, the country is relatively safer, a sense of calm prevails all across the cities and people are much more at ease. This is not to say that Pakistan doesn’t face any problems — an nearly unmanageable circular debt, acts of terrorism and a growing inflation are still present, but the overall condition of the country is far better than what it was several years ago. Cities are making progress, the literacy rate is better, women’s participation in the workforce has increase and so has the purchasing power of the middle class.
While it is important to point out the negative in the country, it is also significant to highlight the positives with the same fervour.
