Conditions at government hospitals of the country are pathetic
LAHORE: Conditions at government hospitals of the country are pathetic. Doctors at these hospitals reportedly do not pay proper attention to their patients.
In comparison, doctors at private hospitals pay better attention to patients.
Patients coming from less affluent backgrounds face several difficulties, including non-availability of medicines. When asked about the reason for this, hospital staff make lame excuses. These hospitals are always overcrowded and the managements lack the expertise to manage hospital affairs properly.
What is worse is that government functionaries and government ministers seem uninterested about the poor state of affairs prevailing at public-sector hospitals. Toilets at government hospitals are very dirty. They are neglected and also vandalised for lack of civic sense.
When our politicians need medical check-up or treatment, they fly off to European or other advanced countries. Even when they suffer from ordinary ailments they go abroad for treatment. What vanity! What vanity fair! And at whose cost! Most often politicians travel to foreign countries for their own treatment and also for treatment of their families at state expense. If they care so much for themselves they should also pay attention to the healthcare needs of the common people. They are representatives of the common people. This fact they should always keep in mind. Morality also demands this.
It is time that the government paid attention to improve things at public-sector hospitals. How long will these hospitals continue to face neglect by the authorities?
