Use of smartphones is an unhealthy obsession in youth
KARACHI: As useful as it is, use of smartphones is an equally unhealthy obsession the younger lot these days has developed. Staying glued to their phone screens for hours with purposeless social media checks and scrolls, majority has entirely given up on quite a lot of good habits like reading. Books and newspaper are no longer the firsthand source to gather information as many now rely and believe more in the often twisted versions of news available on social media platforms.
Writing too has been replaced by students taking photographs of what the teachers writes on white or black boards during lectures. Not just this, the same obsession with screen is resulting in health issues like stress, sleep disorders and poor concentration when performing important tasks. Use of smartphones has come to the point where any effort to make the young generation aware of its negative impact proves to be pointless. Schools and other educational institutions can play an important role in discouraging the needless use of smartphones.
