Child abductions

Letter October 02, 2018
Prime Minister Imran Khan should curb street crime in Karachi including child abductions

KARACHI: It is time that Prime Minister Imran Khan took keen interest and immediate action in curbing the increase in street crimes in the metropolitan city of Karachi. Specially worrisome is the increase in cases of child abductions.

Kidnappers lurk at every corner of the city to find their prey without any fear while the public, especially parents of little children, live in fear. Kidnappings have become a frequent occurrence not just in Karachi but other big cities of the country too.

It is unfortunate that child abductions are being carried out in broad daylight and the law-enforcement agencies have done little to curb this crime. What is worrisome is that some kidnappings do not even get reported, so the actual numbers may be far more than what is being reported through media reports.

Children are future of the country and it is time that both the federal and provincial governments took deterrent actions to eliminate all types of crimes.
