KARACHI: There has been a mixed response to the PM’s announcement of granting citizenship to Afghans and Bengalis residing in Pakistan. However, logically a government that is struggling hard on the economic front must not ignore the inter-relatedness of the population factor and economic conditions.
Not just that, the whole demographic structure will change upon the granting of citizenship, especially Afghans are already predicted to form a majority in Karachi by the year 2030. Hence, all such factors must be considered before the move is finalised for implementation.
