Performance of Pakistan’s cricket team in the Asia Cup 2018 has so far been disappointing
KARACHI: The performance of Pakistan’s cricket team in the Asia Cup 2018 has so far been disappointing. This is not to say that the team should have only won all the matches they played but they should have at least given a tough time to the opposing teams. The only teams it managed to give a tough time were the newbies on the ground. One of these newbies — Afghanistan — in fact, played well against the very team the green shirts struggled to play against — India.
No other word but ‘shame’ can describe the feeling all Pakistanis must be feeling after having watched their team barely perform. And the blame of this shame should be shared between the coach, captain and the chief selector of Pakistan. Some real introspection is needed as soon as the team gets back home. It is high time that some real changes were considered. We no longer can gloat over the past victories such as our Champion’s Trophy victory.
