TURBAT: On September 22, we lost the talented Baloch artist Nabeel Qadir to mental illness. The 25-year-old artist committed suicide.
According to media reports, the 25-year-old artist was depressed after his recent album didn’t do much business and rather he suffered financial loss. He was also unable to find a job and so had become a drug addict. This resulted in him taking his own life.
But this feeling of hopelessness and helplessness is not limited to Qadir, many Baloch singers feel the same as they are neglected and left alone with the government taking little interest in uplifting them.
Nabeel Qadir sang many songs and was known as the hero of Baloch culture. His efforts to keep the Balochi culture alive had been wholeheartedly appreciated by the community.
The provincial government’s inability to support artists and create job opportunities for the province’s youth have combined to the take the life of a young and talented artist, whose absence would be gravely felt by the community.
