Only one hospital for skin diseases in Karachi

Skincare treatments at private hospitals are expensive and beyond the reach of many

KARACHI: According to a news report, 404,475 skin disease cases have been reported in the first seven months of this year at Karachi’s only hospital for skin diseases. The hospital is located in one of the city’s old localities. It is indeed shocking that a city with a huge population has only one skincare hospital. Moreover, skin care or dermatology departments in government hospitals provide poor quality services that often cause more harm than good to patients.

Skincare treatments at private hospitals are expensive and beyond the reach of many. Hence, the less privileged often rely on quacks. Furthermore, in many of the government hospitals skincare departments have been closed down due to unavailability of physicians and the equipment required.
