KARACHI: Rufi Merry Land Society is a 100 bungalows’ boundary wall leased society in Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Karachi. At one time the builders had put a private water line in the area. However, the currently the situation is that all the societies located within the water line are getting water but Rufi Merry Land residents don’t get even a drop of water.
Complaints were lodged with the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board but so far it has remained unmoved. The water meant for our locality is being sold in other localities. These water sellers enjoy the backing of influential people. As a result the residents of our area are totally dependent on water tankers for their water needs. Water tankers are quite expensive. We urge the government to help solve our problem. We also urge the water commission to take notice of the situation considering the fact that water is one of the basic necessities of life. It is a question of survival.
