In Pakistan there are over 25,875 villages
KARACHI: In Pakistan, we have 25,875 villages in Punjab, 5,871 in Sindh, 7,337 in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and 6,557 in Balochistan, according to a recent survey. Most of the villages do not have proper facilities.
I recently went around villages of Sindh and Punjab, and saw that there were only one or two schools in villages and many were without schools. Those that are there are in a pathetic condition. There were neither proper teachers nor proper furniture for the students. Roads and transportation in the villages are also not up to mark. Villagers struggle every day to get their crops and dairy products.
The authorities should look into this situation, because people everywhere should be provided basic facilities. My assessment is that chidren there are talented and all they need is a bit of grooming to earn a respectable living.
Further, if residents of rural areas are provided modern educational, healthcare, other basic facilities and employment opportunities in rural areas, it will stop them from moving to urban areas thereby keeping cities’ population within manageable limits. They come to urban areas with hopes of a better life but here their dreams are shattered.
